Safford Parker:

and corporate founder, from student
to President and Royalty, the
Parker story, from its humble
beginning, has developed into
a classic tale of how one man’s
determination and inventiveness
has shaped an industry.
- Giacomo
Puccini wrote his famous opera
‘La Boheme’ with his
Parker pen.
- In
the year 1899 the first Jointless
Pen designed and patented was
heralded as the biggest success
of the pen age. This pen was honored
as being the pen with which Judge
Day; President of the American
Peace Commission affixed his signature
to the famous Treaty of Peace
signed in Paris on the 10th February.
- 1921:
The biggest and most dramatic
launch of Parker Duofold, nicknamed
as the Big Red symbolized everything
the Roaring Twenties stood for.
It was big, bold and very jazzy.
Irrespective of being the most
expensive pen at that time, it
was one of the biggest selling
pens of the 20’s.
- The
PR launch for Permanite, an extremely
durable plastic pen included dramatic
stunts designed to impress the
public. Pens were thrown over
the rim of the Grand Canyon and
dropped 3,000 feet out of an airplane
to prove their durability.
- The
Parker 51 with slim design and
hooded nib won the Company the
Academy Award for Best Design.
This pen proved so popular that
very soon demand exceeded production.
The Parker 51 is recognized as
a design landmark.
- The
name Parker 45 was derived from
the Colt 45 Pistol, was launched.
This was Parker’s first
ink cartridge pen.
